Make It & Take It 2018

Ten years later, we know how it’s done.

This year, we were ready, steady, GO TIME, WOW!

Rachel really rocks the house. I treated her to a massage this year, before the party. That was very smart of me.

That’s just one station, we have about six pre-set, and we can always throw another one together.

Sometimes, if there are a lot of kids we do a low station.

There are always a lot of kids.

Joseph has been coming for YEARS.  He saw the  mini M&M’s in the reach-in and of course, they went on his fudge pie!

Most of the regulars were there, and lots of pals from the Silverlake Music  Conservatory.

Zach and Ericka always launch their holiday season with a little pie-making. Vegan, of course.

There was a nice steady flow all day. The pace was perfect.

We only lost one pie, and then we found it!

Lot’s of first-timer, too! There’s nothing like your first pie!

My party favors were on point!  The ginger liqueur was the most popular, with pickled cranberries and chocolate cashew butter a close second.

Lunch was delicious. Our of all the many recipes we serve, I love the old school chicken Marbella the most, the yummiest.

Of course, the serious bakers always request early baking slots so they can work in a clean kitchen, and have a little extra time.

Look at these happy sisters. It warms my heart.

Megan convinced all her girl crew climbing team to come have some fun in the kitchen. I think they’ll all be back next year!

Elise the Magnificent was there from We Adorn You.

It wouldn’t be a party without her!

The old time string band, Echo Mountain, was such a wonderful addition. Kelly played the first Make it & Take It in 2008!

All in all, the best ever, of course!

You should come next year, it’s always the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

See you there!

Make it & Take It Highlights 2017

Without a doubt, the 2017 Make it & Take it  was the best ever!! Over 110 guests and 125 pies! I gotta give a shout out to long time oven master, Philip!  He slays!

We had lots of new faces and pie bakers this year. This guy.

Who later, turned into bossy Betty, jamming with the band, asking for the Beatles and “words with songs.” At one point he yelled, “it’s too slow!”  We all fell in love.

Of course, Ana and Dr. Ruth were there, bright and early, weaving pie dough, making masterpieces.

Can you believe this beauty?

Nalysia worked the front door with great aplomb, and a gorgeous smile. Love her to pieces!

Jade was amazing, and doesn’t she look Parisienne, here? Jaw dropping style, this one.

Did I mention? Elise, from We Adorn You, painted faces for a few hours.

I love when pie makers bring their Momma. All the feels.

This little guy has made at least 4 fudge pies in his lifetime. He told his Mom that night, that he wanted pie for dinner. She said okay, and gave him a piece on a separate plate. He said “no, if it’s for dinner , the pie needs to be on the dinner plate ( right next to the grilled cheese)”. In the end she agreed. PIE FOR DINNER!!

Did I mention?  Spiderman was in attendance!

It was a perfect day to make a pie.  Big shout out to Juli Frankel for these amazing snaps.  Wait, is that Rachel??  Making off with Ana’s pie??  PUT THE PIE DOWN, SISTER!!

And one more shout out to her, the sissy of all sissy’s. She helped me organize all the ingredients the day before, she made gluten free crusts and then, went to a concert that night! All I had to do was hang out with my favorite seven year old. Let the Holidays begin!
