It was a whirlwind weekend. The hubs and I have decided we aren’t really “RV” people. It was fun and we’re glad we did it, but next time we’ll do it differently, starting with the rig.
This is what we rented.

Basically, the big benefit is that you have all your stuff all the time, no matter where you travel. I get it, I also prefer the ride of a luxury vehicle. Or an airplane.
We rented in Van Nuys, and traveled to Oakland. By the time we rolled onto my daughter’s avenue, Johnny registered over twenty thousand steps from all the movement in the cab. It’s a jiggly ride. Also, very loud. It was difficult to listen to a podcast, and we really had to use our outdoor voices to conversate, even with the windows rolled up.

The journey though, so nice.
So good to see the kids, and hug them, even with masks. We were all in several stages of immunization so we were ever vigilant, yet took advantage of our vax statuses.

Still, no restaurants, no window shopping.
We remain ready to combat Corona in California, even if we are all fatigued from the fight.
On the last night, we tucked in at an RV park in Morro Bay Dunes. So lovely to spend the night in one of my happy places.

Also. This little noodle and all her budding talents.

In the end, it was a spendy experience. The rig was $1400. for the three nights, and the gas up and back was $400. If I had my rather, I’d choose Southwest Airlines and the Lafayette Hotel and Spa.
Also, one time we rented a box truck for work in Culver City, and as I pulled out of the parking space I scraped three cars. So I was not able to get behind the wheel. Johnny had to shoulder all the driving. That’s not unusual, he usually does, but I could tell driving this big rig was stressful for my companion driver.
So would we do it again? Actually, we want to get a small van, and give it another go. We are ready to hit the road!
