One of all time favorite jobs is catering a small wedding at the Smog Shoppe. (A “small” wedding for us, is under one hundred guests). Emily and Rick’s celebration was positively delightful. Emily and Rick are vegans. There’s something you might not know about vegans generally speaking… they really love to eat. I fell in love with these two at their tasting and we’ve been cooking together ever since!
We always make sure the bridal party gets a little snack before the party starts at the Smog Shoppe. These quinoa sliders with tempe were quite the crowd pleaser.
We started with stationary appetizers immediately following the ceremony. Bruschetta and crostini, waldorf in endive leaves, and tempe sliders were easily accessed during the cocktail hour.
For dinner, we did a buffet of plant based goodness! Rick fell in love with my white bean and greens soup – so we served that too.
The Smog works equally as well as a buffet or family style, we love everything about that location! Our agate wares work well in the rustic chic setting, and bring a little touch of summer.
I’m sure I’ll be getting together with the Barclay’s again soon. Either fermenting something sour or some other reason to hang out and EAT!
