If you’ve ever done a tasting with Jennie Cook’s, we sat, you ate, we chatted about your event. Chances were high that you booked and I had a pretty clear idea of the party, the wedding, the bat mitzvah…
Sometime though, party day is filled with amazing surprises! That party day for Jennie Cooks in 2013 was THE most amazing, at Sunny and Joe’s Smog Shoppe wedding.
When we arrive at the Smog, the wedding party is usually there, getting ready, looking good.
Sometimes they’re at a photo shoot.
I must say, I think yellow is my favorite wedding color – Bright delightful sunshine yellow.
When we arrived, we unloaded and got busy setting the tables, prepping the bars and organizing the kitchen; the wonderful Smog kitchen. Chef sets out some snacks for the wedding party and we ice up the elixers.
The bar was open when guests arrived. We tray passed a spicy jaljeera citrus elixir.
We skewered up a watermelon garnish on sugar cane, and infused some strawberry basil vodka for the pink martinis.
Sometimes, we help receive the performers. There were so many at this wedding, they had an entertainment director; oh yeah. The gospel choir was the first to perform during the ceremony. It was gloriously uplifting and celebratory.
Folks were dying over the onion badji appetizer immediately following the ceremony. Look in the left corner to see the bluegrass band that put the pop in the cocktail hour.
Dinner was a vaguely vegan family style meal with our ever popular shabby chic china.
Enter the Bollywood dancers for the salad course!
As if this wasn’t enough, there was an amazing candy bar. I love serving sweets for the sweethearts, and I love the look.
I skipped out before the cake was cut. That middle layer was scaring me. (I heard later it was handled masterfully by my staff.)
Maybe I put a white chocolate covered RKT in my purse for the ride home.
This was an amazing wedding celebration to the max! The guests could not wait to dance and the love in the room was gushing. Cheers to a life of love and wonder you two.
I’d say you got it off to a magical start.
